Special StoriesThe Clash of ‘Men vs Boys’

The young boys of Zinc Football Academy, all of whom are under 16 years, showed commendable performance to ensure a top three finish in the first ever Rajasthan State Men’s League held at Rajasthan University, Jaipur. Organised by Rajasthan Football Association, the league saw the participation of eight best teams in Rajasthan – JECRC FC, Mewar FC, AU Rajasthan FC, Neerja Modi Football Academy, Playspace FC, Ajmer FC, Poornima Panthers and Zinc Football Academy.

Although our Academy carried the youngest squad in the league, the boys remained unfazed by the age difference, thus, cumulating five wins and two unfortunate loses right through, also scoring a total of 15 goals and conceding just four. Zinc Football Academy won the ‘Fair Play’ Award while the shot-stopper Ansai Goyari managed to grab the ‘Best Goalkeeper’ honours at the closing ceremony.

The Hindustan Zinc Limited-iniatied Academy ended their campaign with a 3-0 thumping win over AU Rajasthan FC. Before that, the boys overcame Mewar FC 3-2, Playspace FC 3-0, Poornima Panthers 3-0 and Ajmer FC 3-0 but went down to Neerja Modi Football Academy and eventual Champions of the league JECRC FC by the narrowest margin possible.

Mr. Dilip Singh Shekhawat, Secretary, Rajasthan Football Association quoted during the closing ceremony: “I am very delighted to see the young boys of Zinc Football Academy going shoulder to shoulder against the best senior teams. Undoubtedly, these precious talented kids are the future of our Rajasthan and Indian Football.”
