One step away from THE FINAL…
For the first time in Zinc Football Academy’s history, the team steps onto the semi-final stage of the AIFF U-18 Elite League, and it promises to be a cracker against one of Indian football’s top clubs, Bengaluru FC.
It has been a remarkable journey for ZFA so far.
After an impressive run in both the Zonal Round and the Final Round, the boys from Zawar booked their place in the quarter-finals, where they delivered a dominant 3-0 victory over Manipur-based TYDA. A performance that showcased their quality, composure, and growing confidence on the big stage.
Bengaluru FC, on the other hand, come into this clash with strong pedigree. After solid campaigns in the earlier rounds, they edged past a strong Jamshedpur FC in a tense quarter-final decided by penalties… underlining their experience and ability to handle high-pressure moments.
However, ZFA will have to navigate a key setback.
Captain and centre-back Sanjay has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury… a big blow at such a crucial stage of the competition.
There is, however, a boost in midfield. Midfield maestro Bryant Dihinga returns to the squad, but his replacement Yungam Neri has impressed with his performances in the Final Round and quarter-final. It sets up an interesting selection call for the coaching staff ahead of this high-voltage encounter.
At the back, there’s further good news as left-back Rishant returns from suspension, adding stability and experience to the defensive line.
Experience vs hunger.
While Bengaluru FC bring with them the weight of reputation and big-match experience, ZFA’s young squad carries fearless energy and belief. Playing their first-ever semi-final, the boys have already shown they can rise to the occasion… and won’t back down now.
With a place in the final at stake, everything comes down to this.
Let’s go, ZFA!
