Underdogs with momentum…

Zawar-based Zinc Football Academy face one of their toughest challenges yet as they take on TRAU FC in their third Group B fixture of the I-League 3 in Imphal, Manipur.

Playing in their home state, TRAU FC will have the advantage of familiarity and support, making this a stern test for the visiting side.

ZFA, meanwhile, step in as underdogs in this fixture. But with belief.

After two matches, ZFA find themselves at the top of the Group B standings with four points, following a win and a draw in their opening fixtures. TRAU FC, on the other hand, currently sit fourth, having picked up a point from their only game so far.

Samaleshwari SC and Mumbai FC occupy the second and third spots with three and two points respectively, while Clube de Salgaocar are fifth after losing their opening match.

The equation is clear.

A positive result for ZFA, especially a win, could provide a significant advantage in the group standings and strengthen their position heading into the business end. It’s an opportunity the players and coaching staff are fully aware of.

ZFA’s campaign so far has shown two different sides of their game.

In the opening 3–1 victory over Samaleshwari SC, the team displayed defensive discipline and control, managing the game with maturity. In the following match against Mumbai FC, ZFA showcased their attacking intent, fighting back late to secure a 2–2 draw.

That balance could prove crucial.

With one of the youngest squads in the competition, ZFA continue to adapt impressively to the demands of the tournament. The quick turnaround between matches and the conditions in Imphal have tested the squad, but also accelerated their growth.

They know what lies ahead.

Facing a strong TRAU FC side on home turf is never easy. But ZFA also know that with the football they have played so far, competing and even taking all three points is well within reach.

A tough test. A big opportunity.
