Zinc Football Youth Tournament reached its final zone of the first phase –Hanumangarh on February 15. Held at Rajkiya Nehru Memorial Law College ground, 15 teams battled for top honours in the presence of Chief Guest Mr Zakir Hussain, Collector, Hanumangarh; Mr Suresh Bishnoi, PRO, Hanumangarh; Mr Sunil Dhaka, District Treasurer; Mr Ganeshraj Bansal, Chairman, Hanumangarh Municipal Corporation; Mr Anil Khichad, Vice-Chairman, Hanumangarh Municipal Corporation; Mr Gulzar Ahmed, Secretary, Bhatner Football Club; Mr Rishiraj Shekhawat, Chief Security Officer, Hindustan Zinc Limited.
Meet FC Ganganagar, and Bhatner FC Hanumangarh won the titles in boys and girls category respectively to qualify for the State Championship, where the winners of every zone will lock horns to determine the ultimate champion of Rajasthan. The State Championship will be held later this year in Zawar.
In the Boys final, Meet FC defeated Bhatner FC in the tie-breaker that ended 1-1 after full time. Meet FC’s Surjeet turned out to be the hero of the match for saving two penalties in the tie-breaker. In the Girls final, Bhatner FC defeated GSS Padampur 5-0. Bhatner FC’s Reetu and Manpreet Kaur scored five goals each throughout the tournament.
