One final step. For everything…
Zinc Football Academy stand on the brink of history as they prepare to face heavyweights Punjab FC in the final of the AIFF U-18 Elite League 2025–26.
For the first time ever, ZFA have reached the final of this prestigious competition. While the journey itself has already marked a historic and successful campaign, the boys now have their eyes set on the ultimate prize. Because nothing compares to lifting the trophy.
The challenge, however, couldn’t be bigger.
Punjab FC come into the final as one of the strongest sides in the country and with the added advantage of playing in their home state, with the match set to take place in Mahilpur, Punjab. Their road to the final has been equally impressive, defeating Reliance Foundation Young Champs in the quarter-final and overcoming Football 4 Change in the semi-final.
ZFA, meanwhile, embrace their tag as underdogs.
But this young team has shown time and again that they thrive under pressure.
Coming into the final, ZFA are in strong form. Top scorer Ashish Chetry has rediscovered his rhythm at the perfect time, delivering crucial performances in the knockout stages. He has been brilliantly supported in attack by Himanshu, Nikhil, and Himesh, forming a dynamic and dangerous frontline.
At the back, there will be a forced change. With captain and centre-back Sanjay ruled out due to injury, Arshdeep is set to step in and fill the void in the heart of defense. The team will rely on its collective strength and discipline, qualities that have already brought success in the knockouts.
ZFA head into the final on the back of two clean sheets in the quarter-final vs TYDA and semi-final vs Bengaluru FC. Goalkeeper Smarnik Thapa, who has already produced heroic performances in the tournament, will once again be key as the team looks to hold firm against a strong Punjab FC attack.
It all comes down to this. A motivated squad. A historic opportunity. A dream within touching distance.
90 minutes away from glory!️
