Three massive points. What a Comeback!
Our Zinc Football Academy girls team produced a fantastic comeback to defeat Real Jaipur FC 3–2 in a physically demanding encounter in Jaipur on Matchday 4. Now with 3 wins in 4 matches, ZFA are back on track.
On a very hot day, Real Jaipur FC started strongly, using their physicality and direct style to good effect. They took an early lead in just the 4th minute after a well-worked move down the right flank.
ZFA responded positively and found the equaliser through in-form Mona. Her initial attempt from a tight angle near the corner flag struck the crossbar, but she reacted quickest to the rebound, showing great awareness to tap the ball home and bring ZFA level at 1–1.
Just before half-time, Real Jaipur FC regained the lead in controversial fashion. From a corner, goalkeeper Pratigya appeared to be impeded by multiple opposition players while attempting to collect the ball. In the same passage of play, she picked up an injury as the opposition forced the ball into the net. The goal stood, and ZFA went into the break trailing 1–2, with Pratigya being rushed to the hospital due to injury.
The second half saw a dominant ZFA performance against a deep defensive block. The team created numerous chances but were repeatedly denied, with midfielder Antra striking the crossbar three times from long range.
Persistence finally paid off when Antra’s fourth attempt found the back of the net, leveling the score at 2–2. With momentum firmly on our side, we continued to push forward. The breakthrough came minutes later when striker Priyanka unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box to score the winner in this crucial fixture.
It was a hard-fought victory for the young ZFA side, who showed resilience and determination to secure all three points despite the physical toll of the match. With games coming thick and fast, recovery will now be key as our young players step on the ground again on Friday, May 29.
