The match-up between the boys from Zinc Football Academy versus the men from Hindustan Zinc Limited promised to throw up some interesting surprises, and sure enough it did!
The scoreline speaks for itself: 23 goals by Zinc Football Academy boys versus a solitary goal by HZL. The under-14 budding footballers from the Zawar-based Academy proved to be more than a handful for the corporate team, but then we had cautioned in advance!
Zinc Football Academy midfielder Jhangminthang Haokip was the top scorer of the competition with four goals, including one hat-trick, while Aman Khan and Subhash Damor scored two apiece.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ms Kavita Singh, Chief People Officer (CPO), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. said, “We were overwhelmed with the response to this first edition of the Zinc Cup. The young boys are undoubtedly levels up compared to the corporate team but I am sure the next edition will have a different story.”
Nevertheless, at least the Cup stays within the Hindustan Zinc family!
