The Under-16 team of Zinc Football Academy have started the new year on the best possible note by convincingly winning the inaugural edition of Elite Youth Cup held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Hindustan Zinc-Vedanta initiative Zinc Football Academy scripted history by winning the Rajasthan State Men’s League 2021 held in Jaipur. The Zinc Football footballers, all of whom are under the age of 18 years, remained unfazed by the age difference in the league, accumulating an impressive 5 wins in 7 matches and scoring a mammoth 23 goals which includes a 10-2 victory in the final league match.
The young footballers of Zinc Football Academy, all of whom are under the age of 18 years, have created history by winning the coveted Rajasthan State Men’s League 2021 held in Jaipur.
The whole footballing fraternity was taken by surprise when NorthEast United FC announced Lalengmawia as the captain of the Highlanders, making him the youngest captain in the history of Indian Super League.
The Advisory Board members of Vedanta Hindustan Zinc-initiated Zinc Football – former Indian Football Team Captain Renedy Singh, India’s best known woman footballer Oinam Bembem Devi and veteran football administrator Shaji Prabhakaran visited the Zinc Football Academy in Zawar, Udaipur along with Annanya Agarwal, President of Vedanta Sports.
Former Liverpool coach Gerard Nus, who has previously worked with footballing legends like Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, among others, interacted with the budding footballers of Zinc Football Academy over virtual platform.
Coach Chandrakala Rao from Hanumangarh district in Rajasthan joined Zinc Football Academy back in 2018. The 33-year-old’s childhood was not exactly a fairytale and was filled with hardship. Her father passed away while she was still in the Xth Standard and her elder brother died in an unfortunate car accident while returning from his work a few years later.
Former Indian Football Team Captain Renedy Singh, one of the best-known woman footballers of India Oinam Bembem Devi and President of Football Delhi and Ex-South Central Asia Development Officer for FIFA Shaji Prabhakaran have joined Vedanta Hindustan Zinc-initiated Zinc Football as part of the advisory board for the programme.
Midfielder Karan Beniwal was born in Suli Khera village in Haryana. His father is a farmer while his mother took care of the households. Since a very tender age, Karan used to accompany his uncle to the football pitch where he watched the elders from the village go toe to toe with each other before eventually becoming a player himself.
